Saudi Global Ports to Ameliorate Container Terminals in Damman

Saudi Global Ports has recently announced phase one of customizing and developing a program at the first and second terminals in King Abdulaziz Port Dammam. Jacobs Engineering Group will be the Civil Engineering Consultants for the project. To begin with, the team will upgrade the first terminal, which has been operating for 30 years. It is also believed that the Second Container Terminal will also begin its expansion process to anchor mega vessels for the coming generations.  

Edward Tah, the Chief Operating Officer of Saudi Global Port, quoted,  

“We are taking progressive steps towards transforming Dammam into a leading international container port, equipped with digital and smart capabilities, and continue to contribute towards Mawani and the Kingdom’s plans for a transformational transport and logistics sector.” 

Along with this, the officials at the Saudi Port Authority quoted that it will be proceeding with the plans for the port infrastructure with the use of digital transformation to strengthen integration outside Saudi Arabia and compete with large international ports.  

The primary aim of this project is to promote sustainability, and the team focuses on deducting the environmental impact of terminal operations. Along with this, intelligent port designs and upskill jobs will also be introduced to SGP’s productivity.
