The Ocean Alliance announces new service route between Tianjin and Europe

Ocean Alliance, the world’s largest container shipping alliance in carrying capacity comprising of COSCO Shipping Lines, Evergreen Marine Corporation and CMA CGM, has announced the launch of a new route between Tianjin and Europe.

The route aims to improve the maritime transport corridor between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area and Europe. It is also reportedly, the first ocean-going route launched from Tianjin, which is part of the Belt and Road, this year. Along side the new European route, Tianjin Port also opened a Southeast Asia route and a Japan-South Korea route earlier this year.

10 container ships of Evergreen Marine Corp will travel from the port of Tianjin Port to the ports of Antwerp, Hamburg and Rotterdam weekly via Singapore, Colombo and the Suez Canal, providing a new convenient sea transport channel for import and export companies in northern China. The port has also seen a 20% increase in container shipping volume in the first quarter of 2021.

The Ocean Alliance, this year, has improved its overall network with a total carrying capacity of more than 330 ships approximating 4.1 million TEUs.
