OOCL containership crashes into two cranes at the Port of Kaohsiung

Container ship OOCL DURBAN (also called SEROJA ENAM – IMO: 9567673) collided with two gantry cranes earlier today, June 3, while proceeding for berthing at the Port of Kaohsiung, Taiwan upon arrival from Hong Kong.

Both the cranes collapsed, wreaking havoc on the pier, wherein one worker was injured and another two were trapped in the wreckage. All of them have been rescued.

The vessel approached too close to the port, according to an initial investigation by the Kaohsiung Port Authority. The Air Traffic Control reportedly had warned the ship but didn’t receive any response. The below video from the China Times’ YouTube channel shows that even some containers have got damaged. The real extent of the damages are yet to be ascertained.
