Engine Room Fire disables containership President Eisenhower

An engine fire aboard the containership, President Eisenhower (IMO: 9295220), reported on Wednesday, Apr 28 at around 0900 UTC has disabled the ship. The incident happened shortly after the vessel left for Oakland from the port of Los Angeles. The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) dispatched immediate assistance to the disabled ship, off the Santa Barbara coast. A tweet by the USCG Los Angeles confirmed that the fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

As of 0330 UTC Apr 29, the ship was moving back to Los Angeles, assisted by two tugs.
