Containership MUZAH runs aground; probably sank. Crew safely evacuated

It has been reported that on May 23, containership MUZAH (IMO: 9002128), while sailing from Mukalla, Yemen to Dubai, UAE, ran aground at the island coast of Jazirat As Sawdah, Khuriya Muriya islands, located at the east of Salalah, Oman.

The hull within the engine room was breached leading to flooding in there. No sooner did the ship issue the distress signal, the Royal Oman Air Force came to its rescue via helicopter and got the entire crew of 12 members evacuated. The crew comprised of 6 Indian and 6 Syrian nationalities. The ship had reportedly anchored with both anchors dropped however, she was unable to hold on and probably drifted into shallow waters and sank.

As of 8 AM UTC May 25, no AIS signal has been received.
